Below is a sample of some of the writing & editing projects I’ve worked on over the years. For more information or to discuss your upcoming project, please reach out.
IlħNa Minn Għawdex: Gozo Voices
This project was a labor of love, bringing voices together from LGBTI+ people across the small island of Gozo, Malta. I was blessed to serve both as an editor and a contributing writer on this project, and the result is a one-of-a-kind glimpse into the lives of those who live, love, struggle, and thrive on the margins of this small Mediterranean island.
Decolonising Our Alleviation of Trauma: Blog
For years I’ve worked as a writer and editor for the international feminist organization VOICE, and this is one of many blog posts I’ve edited for them. In this, brilliant author Asiya Jawed discusses the healing potential of arts-based strategies in emergency settings, and why we need to decolonise our approach to humanitarian relief work.
Waiting for the Sky to Close: A Research Report
In addition to blog posts, I’ve edited many large-scale international research reports, such as this one from VOICE and HIAS on the impacts of the Ukraine crisis on the lives of women and girls. This project was a massive year-long undertaking, with a total of 7 full-length, country-specific assessment reports translated into 7 different languages.
Supporting LGBTQI+ Refugees in Nairobi
In 2019-2020, I was hired by HIAS to conduct an in-depth research report on its programming for LGBTQ refugees in Nairobi. I worked closely with local queer-led & grassroots organizations to design and conduct the assessment, and authored a 30-page report with key recommendations centering the voices of those most impacted. (While the report itself is not available to the public, you can access HIAS’ website below.)
Global Knowledge Platform
In this project, I worked with UNWomen to take the latest research on gender-based violence and create an online global knowledge platform for actors and providers around the world, specifically in conflict-affected settings. I ensured particular attention was given to the issues faced by trans, queer, and other LGBTI+ people.
Navigating Hookups When You’re Trans
One of my favorite things to do is talk to people about sex, pleasure, our bodies, and our often complicated relationships with all of the above. Part of my work as a sex educator and relationship coach involved writing several articles for the online platform O.School, including this one on Guidelines for navigating hookups with cis people when you’re trans. You’re welcome to read it below.
GBV Guidelines in humanitarian Action
Perhaps one of my most expansive projects to date, this multi-year, multi-org project involved integrating vast amounts of research and data into a set of clear and concise tools for preventing and responding to gender-based violence in humanitarian settings. The complete Guidelines, as well as multiple related tools, can be found below.
Sex & Pleasure Education: Guest Columnist
In addition to facilitating workshops on sex & pleasure education, I’ve been a guest columnist for a number of online presences, including the website I am Poly(amorous) and So Can You! In this piece, I respond to a reader’s questions about navigating insecurities, attachment styles, and abandonment fears in polyamorous relationships.
